The mission of Tennessee Temple University is to provide Christ-centered

The B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies: Elementary Education prepares prospective candidates to teach in the regular K-6 classroom. Upon successful completion of all required coursework, a semester of student teaching, and the required PRAXIS II examination, Teacher Education students are eligible for standard certification with the Association of Christian Schools International. This certification is a valid credential for K-12 day-schools accredited by ACSI.

Reading Horizons is a reading system based on a methodology that provides explicit, systematic, sequential instruction in decoding, spelling, and pronunciation strategies. Reading Horizons is the program of choice for reading and phonics instruction for many K-12 schools across the nation. Elementary Education majors will experience and complete this program in the course EDUC 4033-Teaching Reading and Language Arts in the Elementary School.
