Adjunct Instructor - Lisa Godfrey
Lisa Godfrey was the Department Chair for for the Sign Language Interpreting Department for thirteen years. Her undergraduate degree is a double major of English and History. She has her master's degree in Career/Technical Education and is currently working on her Ed.D. in Learning and Leadership. She holds both the CI and the CT from RID and Ed:K-12 Certification. She also holds the the qualified certificate from the American Sign Language Teachers Association and she has completed the course work for a certificate in Teaching ASL and Interpreting from the University of Colorado. She completed the master mentorship program through Project TIEM.online. She recentlly joined the Sorenson team as a VRS Interpreter. She is the past president of the Tennessee Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and the Chattanooga Chapter of TRID. Recently she was awarded the RID Region II Representative's Award for contributions to the field of interpreting. She is married to Kevin and has two children, Hannah and Josh.
Adjunct Instructor - Karl Beyer
Karl Beyer is deaf. He is not new to the TTU Sign Language Interpreting Department. He previously taught there as adjunct faculty and has returned once again as adjunct faculty. He will be teaching some campus and online courses. His ASL teaching experiences spans a few years that covers both TTU and Chattanooga State Technical Community College (CSTCC). He has an American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) certificate at the provisional level. He received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Management Information Science from University of Northern Colorado. He received his Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) from Temple Baptist Seminary. He is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree from Temple Baptist Seminary.
Adjunct Instructor - Loren Frick
Loren joins the faculty of TTU as an adjunct DE instructor of Deaf Ministry. Loren received his BS degree in Elementary Education from Tennessee Temple University and completed his master's degree in Deaf Education from the University of Tennessee. Loren has several years experience working with Tennessee School for the Deaf as an assistant supervisor in the student living department. He now works as a teacher at Georgia School for the deaf. He also has considerable experience with various aspects of Deaf ministry. Loren is married to Jessica and they live in Rome, GA.
Distance Education Adjunct Instructor - Kathryn Montoya
Kathryn received her BS in Educational Interpreting from Idaho State University. Immediately after graduation she continued the MS program in Deaf Education and graduated from that in 2005. Kathryn holds both the Certificate of Interpretation and the Certificate of Transliteration from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. She now interprets in her local community and through VRS. She has taught ASL and related courses at Idaho State University, College of Southern Idaho, Burley High School, Northwest Nazarene University and now Tennessee Temple University.
Kathryn has had the pleasure of serving in several capacities in Deaf Ministry. Kathryn also runs an online deaf ministry Commissioned Believers Deaf Ministry (www.cbdeafministry.org) where they help other churches begin deaf ministries and provide tools for them to be successful. She is married to Ray and they have 5 children. The fifth child was adopted from China in 2007 and is profoundly deaf.
