Meet the Registrar
RICHARD VAUPEL, REGISTRAR
Richard Vaupel has served as the Registrar at Tennessee Temple University since June 1999, but his relationship with the university goes back to 1980 when he came from Illinois to attend Temple Baptist Seminary. He feels blessed to have been a part of the history and heritage of Tennessee Temple University for these many years.
In addition to serving as Registrar, he has served as the Primary Designated School Official responsible for making sure our international students have a successful experience at TTU, all the while watching to make sure they maintain their status while students.
Vaupel is a Vietnam Era veteran and a commissioned officer in the Air Force having served for nearly twelve years. His military experiences serve him well as the campus representative for our veteran students with the Veterans Administration and the various branches of the military.
Vaupel earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA and did graduate work in English at Illinois State University. He is a 1989 graduate of Temple Baptist Seminary with the Master of Divinity degree.
His educational background includes teaching high school English in Dwight, IL, being co-founder and headmaster of Dwight Baptist Academy, and teaching at Tennessee Temple Academy in Chattanooga, TN. He worked briefly in the testing center at Chattanooga State Community College just before coming to TTU as the Registrar. Additionally, he has taught in the Department of Bible and Christian Ministries at Tennessee Temple University.
He is a strong advocate of the priority of spiritual development when it is coupled with opportunities for educational advancement. His favorite expression is “take personal responsibility” and has expected it of the many students he has helped over the years.
Linda, his wife of 43 years, serves with him in the Records office as his administrative assistant. They have five children and five grandchildren. They have resided for over 30 years in Chattanooga, TN within walking distance of the campus which is so much a part of their lives.
