New Volleyball Coach
Tennessee Temple University would like to announce the hiring of their new women’s volleyball coach, Coach Latonia Allen. Coach Allen comes to Chattanooga after spending four years in West Virginia where she was the Head Volleyball coach at Davis & Elkins College (NCAA DII). There she helped to change the volleyball scene from a bottom feeder to a respected program. When she first got to Davis & Elkins they were averaging 8 wins a season. After this past year she will have left averaging 20 wins a season and left a team that is able to compete yearly for a West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title.
Latonia is from Greencastle, PA and attended and played volleyball at Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, WV where she was an Athletic Training major. Latonia was freshman of the year in 2001 and was named Player of the year in 2004 for the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. She was also named to the All- Region team in 2003 and 2004. After leaving ABC she earned her Masters in Science in 2006 from California University of Pennsylvania, California, PA.
Here at Tennessee Temple, she will serve as the Head Volleyball coach and also the Head Athletic Trainer. When asked what her attraction to Tennessee Temple was, she said that she loves the “South” and has always wanted to live here. She also wanted to help build upon the foundation established by Coach Bordean to strengthen volleyball at TTU, bringing it back to a winning culture. Her goal is to have an immediate impact and she knows the road to the top will be a hard climb. She is up for the task and can not wait to begin the journey as the leader of the Volleyball program at Tennessee Temple. Upon her arrival she wanted to thank Coach Liburd and the hiring committee at TTU for the opportunity.
“Latonia Allen will prove herself one of the best hires of this season!”
