The mission of Tennessee Temple University is to provide Christ-centered
higher education that transforms lives academically and spiritually for the glory of God.
A Word from the President,
The TTU family has lost a special servant of the Lord in the passing of Coach Ron Bishop. Coach Bishop served as a coach and athletic director at TTU for over sixteen years. During that time his basketball teams won four national championships. This was a rare and monumental achievement especially given the fact that TTU did not have some of the competitive advantages of other schools. It was a testimony to his skill as a coach and a leader. Yet, the greatest testimony of Coach Bishop was the spiritual impact that he made with his teams. Coach Bishop’s teams were more than just about winning on the scoreboard but rather about seeing souls saved and lives changed. No one will ever know this side of heaven the full impact of the thousands of gospel tracts that he and his teams shared. When the Lord led Ron and Pat Bishop to establish SCORE, few could ever have dreamed what it would accomplish. From a modest start in their basement, they built a ministry that would send thousands to the missionary field.
Recently, Coach Bishop had retired from SCORE. We had the privilege this year at graduation to honor him and Pat as our alumni of the year. He had recently been elected as a trustee of TTU. He was a tremendous man of faith and had been a source of encouragement to all of us in the vision that we have for the future of TTU. We shall miss him greatly. Yet, the Lord has called him home. There can be no doubt that the Lord welcomed him with a “well done thy good and faithful servant.” May we all follow the example of this great servant of the Lord as we seek to move ahead with the mission to which God has called each one of us. Please pray that the Lord will give Pat and the family a special comfort in the days ahead.blog comments powered by Disqus
