Founded in 1946, TTU has a passion for challenging students
academically and encouraging them to grow in their faith.
Purpose and Objectives
The music curriculum is designed to provide the qualified Christian student with a broad foundation of music theory, music history, church music, performance and pedagogy, all presented from a biblically-based philosophy of music. The primary concern is to prepare students for careers and ministries as performers and church musicians in which they will reflect biblical truth.
Objectives
- The student will demonstrate college level proficiency in musicianship, knowledge, and understanding relating to our musical hertiage.
- The student will demonstrate effective musical leadership for the local church.
- The student will demonstrate professional skills needed by the church musician, or music teacher.
- The student will demonstrate skills and knowledge that will enable him / her to pursue graduate study or a career in performing / teaching.
Music Minor
Other majors in the university wishing to make music a minor may do so by taking twenty-three hours of music. The courses under Course Descriptions marked with (*) asterisk indicate Music Minor Course-work.
